Robert Vincent SHENISE, Sr., 65, of Warrenton, NC, died Friday, August 12, 2011. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Joseph Leroy and Frances Wilson Shenise. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet S. Osher, and a brother, Joseph Shenise. He was a former Cub Scout Leader and a baseball coach at Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Flowers Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in the Shenise Family Cemetery in Warren County. Surviving are his wife; two daughters; five sons; one sister; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home.

Milliard Benton STONE, 58, died yesterday after being stricken ill in his office in Winston-Salem. He was supervisor of the leaf purchasing department of Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company. A native of Vance County, he began working for Liggett and Myers after his graduation from the University of North Carolina in 1925. Funeral services were held today at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, and burial will be tomorrow at Elmwood Cemetery in Henderson. He is survived by his wife, of the home; two brothers, Dr. M. L. stone of Rocky Mount and Dr. L. O. Stone of Tryon; and a sister, Miss Altie Stone of Bladenboro.

Mrs. Gladys Kittrell STRICKLAND, 52, of Roanoke Rapids, died Friday. She was a native of Vance County. Services for Mrs. Strickland will be Sunday, October 17, at 3:00 at the Weldon Baptist Church, with burial in the Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon. Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Strickland; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Allen of Conway, Mrs. Albert Twisdale and Mrs. Grady Elias, both of Weldon; five sons, Johnnie of Hyattsville, MD, Larry of Hollister, James of Weldon, Randolph and Frankie of Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. John Langley of Weldon; and one brother, Elmore Kittrell of Henderson.
