"Cokesbury Church was a school at one time. In 1915 my Father went to it.
His name was James E Finch born in 1905. The building burned at some time. Maybe the church history has some info."
More information from the Church History at the website of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
"On December 25, 1925, the church building burned to the ground when a few community boys lodged a fireball on the roof of the church. For 10 months
there was no church in which to worship. Instead, services were held in the Cokesbury School building."
If you have old class or teacher photos, lists of teachers or students, or photos or information on schools in Vance County that you would be willing to share with others
please feel free to email me the information for posting on this site. All contributions are welcomed and appreciated. Thank you and happy hunting!
