Lewis Bailey GUERRANT, a 48 year old farmer, died Tuesday in a Durham hospital from injuries received when he was thrown from a mule during a storm last week. He suffered a broken neck. A native of Vance county, he moved to the Mebane area six months ago. Services were yesterday at 2:00 at the Rock Springs Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers included his nephews: John O. Wilson; William H. Wilson; Macon H. Wilson; James VanDyke; Ralph Harris and Jackson Harris. Other survivors include his brother, Charles W. Guerrant of Virgilina, Va., and three sisters: Mrs. Bessie Smiley of Manson; Mrs. R. S. Harris of Mebane, and Mrs. J. B. VanDyke of South Hill, Va.

Benjamin H. GOODRICH, 68, died Sunday at his home in Henderson. He was born in Nash County, the son of the late James H. and Elizabeth Cheatham Goodrich, and had lived in Henderson for 33 years. He had retired about a year ago from the American Agricultural Chemical Company. He is survived by his wife, Sue Steed Goodrich of Wilmington; a son, Alec Goodrich of Littleton; a daughter Mrs. George Read of Norlina; a half-sister, Mrs. Mary Carter of Washington, D. C.; and three grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled today at the First Methodist Church in Henderson, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.

Lois Patterson GRISSOM, 74, died Saturday, September 03, 2011. Born in Franklin County on February 23, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Patterson and Irene Patterson Patterson. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Warrenton Church Of God. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Warrenton. She is survived by one daughter; one brother; and her aunt. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Ruth Patterson and Mavis Patterson. Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
