Mrs. Claudia Elizabeth HARRIS, 70, died Sunday in a Henderson hospital. A life-resident of Vance County, she was the widow of Melvin T. Harris. She is survived by four sons, L. T., W. H. and J. C. Harris of Henderson, and W. M. Harris of the U. S. Navy; one daughter, Mrs. P. N. Hicks of Cary; amd three sisters, Mrs. N. H. Faulkner and Miss Gussie Stanback of Vance County and Mrs. F. G. Conn of Warrenton. Funeral services will be Wednesday at the Cokesbury Methodist Church, with burial in the Cokesbury Cemetery.

John Russell HOYLE, 86, died Friday, September 02, 2011. Born in Vance County on November 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Lena Smith Hoyle and David Green Hoyle. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. A graveside memorial service was held on Sunday at Liberty Christian Church. Mr. Hoyle is survived by two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and a daughter-in-law. He is also survived by his sister-in-law; a nephew; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; five great great nephews; and three great great nieces. Mr. Hoyle was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Bergmoser Hoyle; his son; John R. Hoyle, Jr.; and his brother, Wilson S. Hoyle. Arrangements are by J.M. White Funeral Home.

James Donald HUNT, Sr. 83, died Friday, August 19, 2011. Born in Vance County on February 26, 1928, he was the son of the late Dewey Lee Hunt and Clara Coleman Hunt. Mr. Hunt was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. Funeral services were held Monday at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed in Sunset Gardens. He is survived by his wife; one son; three daughters; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Randall Hunt and George Dewey Hunt. Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
